I often suggest to new home buyers, to invest in a design plan to avoid unfortunate and expensive design mistakes. Not because of the style of the fixture, but of the installation location and surrounding elements. You first listed the chandelier dilemma in 2013, now you have one installed and it appears to be an unfortunate mistake. Hi, please don't take what I am saying the wrong way. Lovely home, wishing you much happiness and good health there.

You can change the color of the body of the house if you choose and have many options with the white trim in doing so. I would also retain the white trim with a shingle style. You would not miss the three dimensional element on the interior as much as you would on the exterior if there are budgetary considerations.

Please consider maintaining the windows as closely as possible to the original. I believe that it is one of the things that attracted you to the home in the first place. I really believe that you would be most satisfied maintaining the architectural integrity of the home. Your home is a magnificent shingle style home and this is a huge decision as well as expense. There are simulated divided lites that have applied grills on the outside, or even applied to the outside, between as well as in between. Your muntins are three dimensional and if you go for grills between the glass your eye will glance across the distorted panes of glass. One consideration I don't think has been mentioned is the loss of true divided lites. Hope this helped & Good Luck!!!Ĭhanging the window lite configuration will alter the home forever. Then you can snap the inside stops back in place and hang the sash. This will stop any leakage of water if it happens to get inside the sash. We seal the gap across the bottom and up each side about 6". After you've installed the new glass, we always put what they call a "Bottom Bead" of silicone around the bottom of the glass on the inside. Make sure and save the old rubber spacers off the original glass to shim the new glass in place.

You want to get everything off before installing the new glass. Once the glass is removed you can use a sharp wood chisel to scrape the excess silicone off the window. You can get the plastic ones for a couple bucks at any hardware store. If you extend them out about 1 1/2" or so you can get the blade back behind the glass. I also use one of those extended blade utility knives that have the long blades that you can snap off when dulled. It's thin blade cuts right through the caulk or tape.
